Regional Energy-Environment Efficiency Evaluation for Clean Energy in China

  • When discussing sustainable development, energy efficiency and environmental efficiency have always been the focus of scholars and industry participants, and clean energy as a low-pollution, low-emission energy source can effectively improve energy-environment efficiency. In this context, this paper uses the improved DEA model-SBM model, combined with the DEA window model, with clean energy consumption, total labor and total investment as input, and the GDP and carbon emission reduction brought by the clean energy industry as output, to measure energy-environmental efficiency of 31 administrative regions in China from 2007 to 2015. The empirical results show that in the power production industry, the share of clean energy is increasing year by year, and unlike traditional fossil energy, clean energy is efficient in terms of energy efficiency and environmental efficiency. On the basis of uneven regional development in China, underdeveloped regions should focus on clean energy, innovate and develop new industrial systems, while developed regions rely on technological advantages to develop high-end industries with low energy consumption, thus achieving mutual support among regions. To form an optimized sustainable resource development approach.
