Design of Venturi Flowmeter for Measuring the Flow Characteristics of Electric Turbochargers

  • During the sudden acceleration or loading of diesel engine, there are always problems such as insufficient air intake and aggravation of smoke emission, which can be effectively solved by the application of electric supercharging technology. Different engines need electric superchargers with different flow characteristics, so a venturi flowmeter was designed to measure the flow characteristics of electric superchargers. Based on the design principle and related formula of the venture, the parameters of the flowmeter was worked out, and the flow characteristics of the electric supercharger compressor were measured and compared by the hot-film flowmeter, orifice flowmeter and venturi flowmeter respectively. The results show that the designed venturi flowmeter is suitable for measuring the flow characteristics of the electric supercharger, and it has the advantages of small volume, light weight and low cost.
