Research on Anti-backlash Control Valve of Hydraulic Cylinder Riser Tensioning System

  • The riser tensioning system is an important subsystem of the marine floating drilling device. It mainly provides constant tension for the marine drilling riser to reduce the damage to the riser system assembly caused by the drilling platform heave motion and drift. During the emergency disengagement, to ensure the safety of the system, the riser cannot collide with the upper hull and the lower wellhead. This paper designs a riser anti-recoil control valve based on a drilling platform in the South China Sea, and the application to a hydraulic cylinder riser tensioning system verified its anti-recoil control effect. First, the structure and working principle of the anti-backlash control valve are introduced, and the simulation model of the anti-backlash control valve of the riser tensioning system is established based on the AMESim platform. Secondly, the actual parameters of a drilling platform in the South China Sea is set into the simulation model to verify the performance of the anti-recoil control valve.Finally, the designed anti-recoil control valve is applied to the hydraulic cylinder riser tensioning system to verify its anti-recoil control effect. The simulation results show that the designed anti-recoil control valve can respond in time at the moment of emergency separation, which implies the effectiveness of the designed valve.
