Numerical Simulation Study on Throttling Characteristics of Double Sleeve Regulating Valve

  • The sleeve regulating valve is one important adjustment component in pipeline. Its throttling characteristics is the main performance index. In view of the influence of different sleeve parameters on the throttle performance of the sleeve regulating valve in actual working conditions, double sleeve regulating valve is taken as the research object, and the Fluent numerical simulation method is used to research the influence of 10 different sleeve spacing and two different arrangement of secondary sleeve holes on the throttling characteristics of the regulating valve, and the throttle characteristics such as pressure drop, flow velocity and turbulent dissipation rate are analyzed in detail. The results show that with the increase of double sleeve spacing, the pressure drop decreases, the outlet velocity increases, and the turbulent dissipation rate is rising. When the sleeve distance reaches the critical distance (8 mm), the sleeve spacing will increase while the throttle effect will not change. When the secondary sleeve is arranged in triangle, the energy consumption is greater. The research results provide reference for the design and optimization of similar sleeve regulating valve.
