Design of FSC Racing Car's Engine Intake System Based on Models Coupling Simulation

  • FSC events have higher requirement for the engine power performance. However, a flow-limiting valve is required to use according to the rules. This results in a great decreasing in volumetric efficiency. In order to improve the engine performance, the intake system needs better optimization. The one-dimensional model of a LD450 Engine is established with GT-POWER software, and the result of simulation is matched with the experimental data with the error of 5%.According to the simulating analysis on the different plenum volume length of manifold and drainage cavity volume, the optimum parameters of one-dimensional air intake system are obtained. Moreover, by coupling the ANSYS-FLUENT and GT-POWER, and taking the results of the GT-POWER as the Boundary conditions, we selected the best intake system model to meet the highest total pressure. The experimental results show that the method, which using models to optimize the outlet pressure to improve the performance of the FSC racing, makes it possible to enhance the engine power performance by adopting the improved intake system, and engine power loss, caused by the installation flow-limiting valve, is eliminated.
