Research on Highway Slope Instability and Emergency Settlements Based on ANSYS Model

  • The instability of a highway slope in Sichuan was researched and was modeled on the platform ANSYS based on finite element method. Two different conditions of the slope, i.e., general state and saturated state (heavy rains state), were analyzed on the ANSYS. the cause of the slope instability was found out: the internal friction of saturated clayey soil tends to "0" and then the soil shear strength is reduced. This results in the dynamic water pressure and increase of the gravity stress. These factors lead to slope collapse. Finally, specific engineering treatment measures are put forward to improve slope stability and avoid slope collapse.
