Preparation of Water-based Cutting Fluid with High Performance

Abstract
This article describes the synthesis and characterization of surfactant. In addition, we studied the formula and performance of cutting fluid. Firstly, borate ester surfactant was synthesized via the reaction of diethylene glycol and boric acid in toluene. Then the effects of temperature, time and the dosage of toluence on the rate of esterification were researched. Then, we used the surfactant, defoamers and a variety of other components to obtain several new water-based cutting fluid. The corrosion resistance and lubrication of this new water-based cutting fluid were studied. Result shows the yield of borate ester reached 95% after 90min under the best conditions in which V(toluene):V(water)=1.25:1. The optimal formulation is: emulsifying silicon oil(6 drops)、diglycol borate ester 5%、BTA 3%、water 78%、antifoam reagents 602(6 drops)、6501(10%)、AEO 3%、SDS(1%)。
