Comparison of the Application of GFRP Bars with Steel Bars in Slope Reinforcement

  • In the reinforcement of slopes, the steel bars usually break due to the corrosion, while the GFRP bars with good properties is promising to replace steel materials and solve?the?rust problem radically. The GFRP bars are studied on many aspects such as corrosion resistance, tensile strength, shear strength and so on in this paper and compared with traditional steel bars to analyze its advantage of application. Its feasibility and reinforcement effect were discussed in slope reinforcement relying on the project of Huang Long Wan slope reinforcement. The results show that the GFRP bar is of better corrosion?resistance and has higher?tensile strength and lighter weight. on the premise of same reinforcement effect of slope, the application of GFRP bar means less quantity, lower cost and more beneficial to stress relief in soil-rock mass and the stability
