Selection of Tool Geometric Parameters Based on ABAQUS Software

  • Nowadays seafood producers mainly use squid cutting machine to realize the separation of squid head and body. If the geometric parameters of cutter are unreasonable, the sticking phenomenon between cutter and squid would happen and influence the cutting quality. The paper conducted tensile failure test to get the relevant mechanical parameters of squid muscle. ABAQUS was utilized to establish the model of squid cutting process. Based on the model, the finite element analysis was performed and the stress nephograms kinetic, and strain energy curves of each scheme were obtained. Combined with the results of squid cutting experiment, the cutters would be analyzed to determine the optimal geometric parameter scheme. The comprehensive analysis shows that cutters whose dip angle of lower blade between 50°~60° and that had sawtooth have larger kinetic and strain energy, which is in favor of cutting squid body by machine in the actual operation. The chosen cutter could improve the quality and efficiency of squid cutting, and reduce the labor input. We wish these results can provide valuable reference for the industrial structure upgrading of seafood producers.
