Abstract:
Tang Zhen, a famous thinker in Ming and Qing Dynasties, not only paid great attention to practical problems, but also made a very in-depth study of military issues. Tang Zhen made efforts to build "all-around learning", also "omnipotent learning", and advocated that Confucianism and military science should be taken into account at the same time. On the one hand, he adhered to the war view of "benevolence wins the world" according to the standpoint of Confucianism; on the other hand, he drew lessons from a lot of military management theories and strategic thoughts from military strategists, believed that a good job of "self-consolidation" and "internal and external power" should be done in building a benevolent and righteous army, and advocated "justified deception in war" and "taking advantage of opportunities". His thoughts embody a strong pragmatic spirit and show the characteristics of confluence of military and Confucianism.
