Abstract:
Media convergence provides a major opportunity for digital transformation of dictionaries. Current studies on digital dictionaries mainly focus on multimedia or multimodal ones, frequently accompanied by obscuring the functions between multimedia and multimodalities for lexicographical compilation and publication in the age of media convergence, which makes digital dictionary stay at a lower development stage. Based on the investigation of digital dictionaries, the paper finds that there are some problems in dictionary compilation, such as confusing the concepts of multimedia and multimodal, lacking multimodal dictionary texts with media fusion, inconsistent organizational units and forms of dictionary texts, and lacking precise services to user groups. While in the process of publishing digital dictionaries, the following problems exist: the disunity of compiling and publishing platform, the need for personalized knowledge of dictionary users to be met, the new media of dictionary text to be tapped, and the new profit model to be created.
