Abstract:
In 2017, the "Three-Step" strategy of Chengdu was put forward as a goal of building a modern new Tianfu in an all-round way and becoming a sustainable world city, which has quickly become a hot topic for the government and academia. Starting from the concept and characteristics of a world city and sustainable development, this paper constructs the evaluation index system of a sustainable world city, and analyzes and judges the realistic level of Chengdu's construction of a sustainable development world city through the quantitative comparative study of China's top ten cities. The study finds that Chengdu has shown the rudiment of a world city in terms of global connectivity, social governance ability and historical and cultural heritage, however, the degree of economic agglomeration, the ability to organize and configure resources, coordinated development of population, resources and environment, and innovation ability still need to be improved. Finally, learning from the experiences of other advanced cities, the paper proposes a direction and some countermeasures for Chengdu to build a sustainable world city.
