Abstract:
Good literature translation cannot do without "creative treason". The paper is based on some examples in
The Field of Life and Death translated by Howard Goldblatt, a chief translator in contemporary Chinese literature, and analyses "foreignization and domestication" "supplement and deletion" "sentence restructured" "tone shifting" used in Howard Goldblatt's English version. The paper shows that "creative treason" is of great significance and value to the translation of literature and the second life of literary works brought by translation.
