Abstract: This paper discusses three controversial issues in the study of Li Shen's Two Poems of Ancientry.Firstly, was the second poem written by Nie Yizhong? Though it was embodied in the Nie Yizhong's Tianjia in the Complete Tang Poems, it can be concluded from the account of Fan Shu's Yunxiyou Yi that the second poem was not written by Nie Yizhong.Secondly, when did Li Shen inquire for Lv Wen with Two Poems of Ancientry? Different critics have different views.According to Lv Wen Biography of Old Book of Tang, the time was estimated in the fifteen year of Zhenyuan period.Thirdly, did Li Shen have political motives? The title of "ancientry" and its objective reflection of social political problems indicate that it was a political allegory.
